I find myself unintentionally on that "Because I said so!", power trip all to often with my boys. Almost always when they are pushing my buttons. But then when I cool off I usually realize I never would have treated (or talked to) another adult the way I do them.
It can be difficult to be enlightened with these little beings that often have little patience themselves and often do not make sense! Maybe if we take the word enlighten to mean letting our "stuff" go and thereby lightening our mental state we can begin to understand where they are coming from. We could the allow ourselves as parents to be more childlike in accepting new ideas, being curious enough to find unique solutions to difficult situations, and having fun!
